If someone were to ask what the greatest invention of the 21st Century would be, I would respond, “the iPhone. Hands down.” What other device or invention lets you have unlimited access to boundless information in the palm of your hand? Sure there are other hand held devices that claim to do what the iPhone does, but none can compare to the ease of use and intelligent user interface. The touch screen is so precise, you are able to click on links that are as small as a pin head.

The iPhone has changed the landscape of all modern cellphones. It recently became the best-selling domestic handset beating out the RAZR. Everyone form RIM to Palm has tried to create the next “iPhone Killer” with very limited success.

I am completely spoiled, every time I pick up another phone or device with a screen, I automatically slide my finger across it! I am instantly disappointed, as the screen does not respond. I have to keep in mind that some manufacturers have not seen the light, and are still in the dark ages. Others have tried to copy the iPhone’s screen, with limited success.

I have never cared for a device the way I do the iPhone. It gets its daily bath (windex and papertowel dry), sometimes twice a day, it has a protective case and clear screen protector and it never leaves my side. I have friends who will not part with their iPhones, even when in the bathroom! The only thing I leave home with is my wallet and my iPhone, I don’t even bring my keys anymore as I found a way to use my iPhone to enter my house! There are so many helpful applications on the iPhone from CPR to Converters to Shazam to iSushi.

The greatest thing about the iPhone is that on any given day you learn something new just by playing with it. The other day I found that by holding down your finger on an image, while you are on a web page in Safari, you are able to save the image directly to your photos… in one step! One other thing that makes this device remarkable is the Maps and GPS apps. I do not use my car GPS unit anymore. You only need to carry ONE device around with you, and who doesn’t like that?

Although the iPhone is impressive and considered the “FUN” phone, it has its’ limitations. It is not a practical device for businesses. It is more expensive than the Blackberry and it takes the focus away from doing business. The BIS and BES system for accessing the internet and corporate intranet are far superior to the iPhone and its’ application. As a business owner with many employees, there is no way I would provide Iphones to my employees over the Blackberry. As for you comment on the iPhone being the greatest invention of the 21st century, are you serious? FACT and OPINION are two different things!
