blackberry-tourThe Blackberry Tour 9630 is a gentleman’s phone with a ladies touch or switch it around which ever works for you. It’s sleek and sharp styling makes it a perfect fit in your hand or in the smallest of purses. The built in Internet browser along with multimedia functionality, email capability, social networking and a wide variety of other applications make it truly a mobile solution for those on the go or just simply looking for a great smartphone. If you are anything like me, a good camera is a must have feature in a phone. The 3.2 Mega Pixels camera takes marvellous pictures with its automatic focus feature, LED flash and a two times digital zoom feature. It also allows you to record videos to capture those once in a life time moments.  The famous video formats include WMV, H263, H264 and MPEG4.

For the music lovers, the built in speakers provide crystal clear sound at whatever decibel fits your fancy. Viewing the music playlist on the TFT screen makes it handy and easy to use as well. Bored of hearing the same old conventional ringtones, with the help of the iTunes synchronisation feature, you can hear your ringtones in a variety of formats including MP3, polyphonic sound, Midi etc. Now how cool is that?

However, I would be the first to admit its not all praise and glory for one of the newest members to the Blackberry family of phones. The biggest peeve of mine is the dying battery. You are expected to get 5 hour talk time with a fully recharged battery and yes, you can probably get that, if you do all the things they tell you to conserve on battery power, like switch off the vibrate function, turn off the back light, avoid using unnecessary features like the camera and GPS. But then you ask yourself, what is the point of having a smartphone? More a nuisance is the loose battery door, which moves around in your hand and occasionally makes a sound when typing.

All in all, the Blackberry Tour is an ultra cool 3G gadget that is reliable and feature rich with all communication, entertainment and business features you will need at an affordable price. I was happy to get my Tour with the best cell phone deal available.

    I totally agree, its a beautifully efficient phone, while it lasts. The battery life is far too low and as you say, what’s the point in owning a smartphone with all the cool applications and features, if you cant use them because you’re phone will die in a few minutes. I just hope teh 9700 doesn’t suffer from the same problems. Nice review.
