They are never ones to spearhead a product category, instead they revolutionize it. Basically, Apple enters the smartphone industry and smashes it. They were not the first iPhone but they created an incredible design of higher quality and entered a market that was on the verge of exploding. They do this all the time, sometimes it flops, most the time it doesn't. The iPad was not developed for everyone, unlike the iPhone which was. I am getting an iPad on day 1. I am a photographer and it will allow me to engage in conversation and have my portfolio with me at all times. I think they should have called it an iPal. I spend a lot of time traveling in a car with my wife driving and I review a project via .pdf and other documents. I normally do so with a laptop -- this iPad answers a lot of problems for me by making my job easier and not having to carry a laptop around to review documents, look at contracts, etc...
