Great write up. The iPhone is truly amazing and I don't like being without it. This time last year I had jumped in a pool with my iPhone and it was dead. I had to wait 9 days before I was able to get a new one. The phone I had was a cheap go phone. I really love all the apps that can be downloaded to the iPhone. The best part about the iPhone to me is the ability to check emails on the fly. Thanks for the information.

Iphone 4g means 4rth generation but also it will run on a 4g network and I agree with the gentlemen seeing that i am a Telus employee no Canadian cellular phone provider has a 4G network as of yet... and apple will not launch another Iphone on the 3g network, they dont need to there 3gs is a great success if they are to launch a better phone they will wait for a better network.

the 4g is referring to 4th generation iPhone. He is not referring to the 4th generation of cell networks. Confusing, yes but it is the 4th generation of iPhone, hence iPhone 4G. Last names were 3G and 3GS, now this spring/summer with be 4G.

I am not sure where Paul got his information from, but so far the only 4G network anywhere in the world is Sprint's WiMAX network and a few non-standard 4G networks in Asia. Most operators are saying they will launch LTE networks. Verizon will probably be the first to launch a LTE in the later part (probably Q4) this year. Usually operators will launch data cards months before the first device. Most device manufactures will only start getting handsets ready for commercial launch after significant live network testing. Apple is sure to launch another iPhone this year, but it is unlikely to be 4G.

Bell/TELUS has a very comprehensive 3.5G (HSPA+) network covering over 90% of Canadians with speed of up to 21Mbps. There are few devices that work at these speeds. Rogers has most of the urban centres covered, but at lower speeds.

@ memphius: Bell and TELUS have a national 3G network (EVDO) and Rogers has a national 3G (UMTS) network.

I like the sound of the front facing camera... but honestly, I don't think I will ever conference call someone... and it might make it harder to take a picture when the screen is pointed away from. The 5 mega pixels sounds savy though...

Unless the new iphone is on a new "4G Network", I really don't see the benefit of rushing for it right now. Especially considering you are hard pressed to even find a TRUE 3G network connection in Canada as it is now.

The real difference will be the front facing camera and newer operating system. Apps will be quicker when loading and you will be able to use mutiple apps at the same time.
