Samsung Infuse 4G
Samsung’s New 4G Smartphone- Infuse 4G
Samsung continues to shine with the announcement at CES of its latest 4G phone, Samsung Infuse 4G model # SGH –i997. Known for its superb display & imaging technologies as seen in the Galaxy S series phones, the Infuse seems ready not to disappoint. Not known if any of the Canadian Carriers will bring this smartphone but with the success of Galaxy S Phones, I am sure we are on the heels of an announcement. The Infuse is scheduled to be released in the USA on AT&T sometime in Q2 and the price tag is yet to be set.
What’s to talk about?
The Infuse has an amazing 4.5” touchscreen display that sports super AMOLED “plus” technology that features a 50 percent boost in sub-pixel count, promising improvements both in contrast and outdoor readability. Not bad when lined up against 4.3-inch range phones like the HTC EVO 4G & Desire HD or Motorola Droid X. Touted to be one of the slimmest phones around at 9 mm thickness this phone has all so familiar look to the iPhone and definitely a notch up in looks and feel on the Galaxy S Series Phones.
This Samsung phone has superb photo and video capabilities with a dual camera onboard; 8MP camera on the back with 3264×2448 pixels, LED Flash and features smile detection, Multi-shot, Autofocus, Digital zoom, Panorama, ISO control and self timer. It can also record 720P HD video and has a 1.3MP VGA camera on the front which can be used for video-conferencing. The music player is same as Galaxy S’s player and it supports Mp3, WMA, AAC, MIDI and AAC+. It also has a Youtube player so entertainment in your pocket is what you can call this phone.
What’s Surprising?
Interestingly, the Infuse will run Android 2.2 (Froyo) with TouchWiz UI rather than Android 2.3 as we’ve seen on most CES arrivals this year, but lets hope the older OS will not be setback for the Android lovers.
The Infuse is powered by 1.2GHz single-core Hummingbird CPU, faster than 1GHz in the Galaxy S Series Phones but not a power house like the other 4G phones i.e. the Motorola Atrix with its dual core processor and double RAM size. With dual core processors phones being the norm in the not so distant future not sure what kind of reception this device will have when released.
