HTC Desire HD Review
HTC Desire HD
Its official, the HTC Desire HD has been released in Canada on Bell and TELUS. The Desire HD the newest Android phone from the Desire Series, is considered the “big bother” to the widely popular HTC Desire and Desire Z Phones, also available in Canada. Big is no exaggeration as this Android phone comes with super 4.3 inch display screen; touch screen yes but, no pull out keyboard like Desire Z. The aluminum unibody construction makes the look and feel of this phone very appealing ,so much so, the slab like design is one of a kind. The Desire HD like its predecessors runs on Android OS 2.2 Froyo and has the latest version of HTC Sense (Sense UI) packed with a list of enhancements that will surely impress you.
Key Features include:-
- A massive 4.3 inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display (Desire Z: 3.7 inch) that will surely enhance your touch experience
- An 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and dual-led flash
- Capture HD videos up to 720p resolution with amazing clarity
- Dolby Mobile and Surround Sound makes movie watching a absolute pleasure
- New HTC Sense (Sense UI) comes with a new web interface with some neat features like Phone wipe which cleans the phone of any personal data; Phone Locator that helps you to locate the device if misplaced; Backup and View Phone History for piece of mind.
- Adobe Flash 10.1 support for a richer web experience
- Memory upgrade to 768MB RAM and Adreno 205 graphics accelerator onboard for better 3D Gaming performance
- Super fast 1 GHz Snapdragon processor with download speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps
Not so Hot:
- Definitely on the hefty side in size (123 x 68 x 11.8 mm) and in between in weight (164 grams) compared to (140 grams) for Desire and (180 grams) Desire Z.
- Most notable downside is the battery life, which like its predecessors, suppose to give you at least 320 mins talk time but you would be lucky if you get close to that time.
- Only 1 camera onboard – no front facing camera
Conclusion:
If you favour Desire series phones or looking for a new smartphone, the Desire HD is a solid phone with an impressive display and powerful processor making it high on the list of Android Phones available in Canada. It’s competitively priced at $99.99 on Bell or little more on Telus at $149.99, either way make sure you shop around to get the best deal.
