In the age of social media and era of Facebook, it was only a matter of time when a phone manufacture unveiled a phone targeted to Facebook fanatics. The HTC Cha Cha, unofficially being termed the “Facebook phone”, hopes to be a hit amongst younger users that are active with Facebook. You can post and share  pictures, video and messages with a press of a button.

The HTC Cha Cha has a dedicated Facebook button at the bottom right of the phone that allows users instant access to their FB account with a press of a button. You can group all of your FB friends together, see and chat with those online.

The Cha Cha also comes with the standard list of features, none of which, will blow your mind away.

  • 600 MHZ processor running off of Android Gingerbread 2.4 with HTC’s Sense User Interface (UI)
  • Full Qwerty keyboard for quick and easy typing
  • 2.6 inch touchscreen display with 480 x 320 resolution screen
  • 512 MB of ram with an expandable micro SD card slot
  • 5 MP Camera with auto focus and LED Flash along with a front facing VGA recorder for video chat
  • Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11 WiFi b/g/n, Internal GPS antenna
  • 3.5 mm stereo audio jack  and Standard micro-USB
  • Works off of Quad Band GSM/GPRS/EDGE: HSPA/WCDMA

At this time, we are not sure who will carry this device in Canada or what the device will sell for. The price of this phone will be critical to its’ success.

HTC is counting on avid Facebook users to gravitate to the HTC Cha Cha.

I’m not convinced by the facebook button gimmick. Most smartphones come pre-loaded with a facebook widget anyway. A dedicated button vs. a hot-point on a touch-screen seems like a pretty minor consideration.
