The Association of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs Winner’s Club Reception at KPMG

On the 46th floor, rising out of the fog shrouded mantle of Downtown Toronto like a mountain in a sea of fog, KPMG hosted a reception for the ACCE. The purpose of this reception was for members of the association of entrepreneurs to have a chance to meet and hear from competitors on the Dragon’s Den who had braved the dragons and emerged victorious from the show.

First there was an extended meet-and-greet period where members of the association, members of KPMG and winners from the Dragon’s Den were able to circulate and get to know each other.  The myCELLmyTERMS team was there in force to introduce ourselves to this important entrepreneurial association.

After a very pleasant period of socialization we turned to the core of the event – a panel discussion with four winners from Dragon’s Den.

On the panel were Darrel Bachmann of Kickspike Enterprises Ltd., Ryan Foley of NuvoCare Health Sciences, John Vellinga of Multiculture Bevco Inc., and our very own Kye Husbands. The panel addressed questions related to their time on Dragon’s Den, what they learned from the experience and whether they would do it again.

The verdict?

Every single panelist agreed that they would go on the Den again in a heartbeat. The experience of being on the show helped everyone learn more about their own business and provided invaluable exposure that is crucial to the success of a new business.

Interesting anecdotes included the difference between the hour long sessions the contestants had on the Den and the brief, five minute clips that ultimately air on the show. We also heard how the intensive due diligence process after the program helped the contestants to grow and to understand their own business and the investor / entrepreneur relationship in much greater depth.

At MyCellMyTerms we have leveraged this improved understanding to help produce the best possible service to help consumers and businesses alike get the best  possible cell phone plans and deals. See for yourself by registering with MyCellMyTerms and you too can start enjoying a service that impressed even the dragons of CBC.

It was really interesting to have a chance to see behind-the-curtains (so to speak) of the Dragon’s Den.
