BlackBerry’s New Bike Commercial. Sorry, BB Bold Commercial
If you watch basketball, or TV at all, then surely you’ve seen the BlackBerry commercials during, literally, every break in the action. Our friends at RIM have decided to go on a marketing blitz to introduce the new BB Bold, but what’s so new about it? Nothing, and that’s the problem, so – how about those bikes, eh!
If you haven’t seen the commercial, here it is.
While Google uses its commercial time to impress us with the latest features of Ice Cream Sandwich – the latest Android Operating System (OS 4.0) – and Apple, as it always does, continues to amaze us by simplifying technology and user experience, RIM is trying to sell us on the same old BB Bold as being a new BlackBerry Bold, but wait a sec, damn those bikes are cool. I really marveled at the bikes in the commercial and it looks like I wasn’t the only one. More on that shortly. Perhaps you feel differently about the commercial overall and as one of my colleagues professed, “It’s good to see RIM playing up the name – Bold, it’s a great name for a phone and it’s good to see RIM trying to add some cool factor to its brand.” So it’s a tie right, not so quick - check out what the webosphere has to say to RIM directly.
My take, the commercial should read – “Introducing the new BlackBerry OLD.”
But what do you think, is the commercial effective at introducing the “new BlackBerry Bold” or selling glow in the dark bikes?
One more thing….before you ask, the company that makes the bikes is 8bar Bikes and you can custom order your bike from their website, as long as you can read a little German.
