HP getting out of webOS business
Android, iOS dominance force HP out of space
HP announced that it is getting out of the webOS game after lackluster sales of its Palm based products, Pre, HP Veer, and the TouchPad. Despite fairly good reviews of its recently launched tablet the TouchPad, customer interest in the TouchPad was significantly lower than the market leader, Apple’s iPad. None of its devices gathered enough momentum to challenge for market share in a very rapidly evolving space. So what’s next for HP?

At the end of Q2, 8.5 million Smartphones users in Canada
Amazing isn’t it! Based on the quarterly results of the major wireless carriers, myCELLmyTERMS estimates there are 8.5 million smartphones in use in Canada and growing. Only a few short years ago, smartphones were considered a specialty device aimed at prosumers (professional consumers) and certainly were not considered mainstream. We have certainly come a far way from 2002 when RIM released its first BlackBerry.

This year was a big year for the wireless industry in Canada, with the new entrants finally getting off the ground, the iPhone 4 and BlackBerry Torch launch just to name a few. In fact you can easily identify 20 stories which would make this top 10 list, but after rigorous debate, name calling and some hurt feelings, we managed to reduce our list to just 10, and here it is:
Videotron’s Cell Phone Plans Review
A review of Videotron’s new cell phone plans
Quebecor’s Videotron launched its Wireless network recently (Sept 9) and we took the opportunity to review its cell phone plans which they recently introduced. Unlike the new entrants, Wind Mobile, Mobilicity and Public Mobile – Videotron is an established cable operator with over 2.5 million customers already and with the necessary financial resources to do this (so they can’t be bought out).
How net neutrality can affect your wireless bills?
Why you should care about Net neutrality?
So what exactly is net (Network) neutrality and what is all the fuss about? Well, in its most simple definition, it simply means that all internet traffic should be treated equally. So if you send me an email and I was surfing the web then your email won’t be treated any differently than my request for pages from the Globe and Mail for example. All traffic is treated the same way.

A review of Chatr Wireless Plans

The wireless market in Canada is heating up with some competitive cell phone plans. Rogers responded on Wednesday, July 28 with its own discount brand aimed at the same customers as Mobilicity, Wind and Public Mobile. And they launched despite a threat from Mobilicity’s Chairman about taking Rogers to court if they proceeded with the launch – I guess we will have to see what happens.

Apple’s rivals quick to respond to Apple’s accusations
Apple’s antenna saga continues with some strong responses by its rivals who were uninvitedly brought into the iPhone 4 antenna issues via a presentation from Steve Jobs during their press conference yesterday.
