Steve Jobs resignation with have little impact on Apple!

Tim Cook replaces Steve Jobs as CEO of Apple Inc.

I’m surprised that the stock fell after learning about Steve Jobs resignation as CEO of Apple yesterday. Who builds the best tech tech company in the world running it as a one man show? Steve Jobs did an amazing job at building a great culture and team. In fact, Apple became the Apple today after he hired his current executive team, namely Tim Cook who has been with the company for last 13 years.

One of the reasons I’m also surprised by the stock market’s reaction to Steve leaving, is that Tim Cook has been running Apple over the last 2 years anyway, and you could argue that the last 2 years have been the best in Apple’s history, largely due to Cook’s leadership. In my opinion, Steve Jobs with his health issues served as a role of mentor more than CEO as he battled cancer. In many analyst calls, Tim Cook led these calls and in a few cases it seemed that Jobs wasn’t fully appraised on launch dates and plans regarding key devices. So I ask you, if Tim Cook has been running Apple for the last few years why the concerns about Apple’s future?

To say that Steve Jobs was important to Apple is an understatement, he has been an icon and a legendary figure. So much so, I believe he stayed on longer than he should have in an iconic capacity because of the market’s view of his importance. Steve Jobs had ensured that the culture and systems at Apple were in place to continue his legacy a long time before he announced his resignation, and while we would like to think that a single man created this amazing company this is far from the truth. Steve Jobs impact on Apple will always remain but his influence over the last few years was diminished, and this transition, while sad will have little impact on Apple’s run.

I believe that Apple’s success was because of this dynamic duo, Steve Jobs and Tim Cook. Tim Cook brought an organizational genius to match the creative genius of Steve Jobs and his creative team. It was the marriage of these two sets of skills, creativity and execution, which has made Apple the company it is today. While Steve Jobs insight and creativity will be missed I believe his creative team is strong enough to carry out the next 10 years minus Jobs and when you couple that with the execution and organization that Cook brings to the table you have a recipe for continued success.

myCELLmyTERMS on the promo video for CBC’s hit show the Dragons’ Den.

myCELLmyTERMS air date on the Dragons’ Den has been set for October 21st, 2009 at 8 pm.

Fifty supporters dressed in red hooded sweatshirts accompanied by a drummer and guy on a megaphone joined the myCELLmyTERMS founders, Paul Peic, Kye Husbands, Yale Holder and Eswar Padmanabhan as they entered the den to face the Dragons, Arlene Dickinson, Robert Herjavec, Jim Treliving, Kevin O’Leary, and W. Brett Wilson. Although you can’t see it in this promo, it was a tense pitch in the den. The supporters played a vital role in helping these revolutionaries voice their opinions about the wireless industry in Canada. Together they made the Dragons hear their message about an industry that desperately needs a shake up.

Frustrated supporters gathered in front of the CBC Building on John St in Toronto, Ontario to support myCELLmyTERMS.com, an industry first web portal which will allow Canadians to negotiate their own cell phone deals.

Supporters dressed in red hooded sweatshirts were lead down the street by a drummer and a megaphone loud speaker, chanting “my cell, my terms!” and “we need a change in the cell phone industry”. Clearly an indication that change is on its way.
