What a milestone! 2 billion apps… 50M iphone’s and Ipod touches sold…hey that’s approx 40 apps per unit. 85k different applications available, sounds exciting. But how many are actually useful?

While quantity is often a great unit of measurement, quality is more preferred. Considering the average number of apps downloaded another interesting stat would be how many are actually used a month after being downloaded? Ranging from free to whatever you think someone would pay the app store grows. Apple encourages programmers, and maybe even non-programmers like myself to think outside the box about all that is useful, useless, fun, bizarre but at the end of it creative.
