BlackBerry 10 unveiled! Is it too late?
A sneak peak at the new BlackBerry 10 cell phone
RIM’s CEO Thorsten Heins unveiled the BlackBerry 10 operating system and a prototype phone for developers today in Orlando, Florida. With no launch date communicated as yet, the phone is still expected to be in our hands in time for the holiday season.
2011 was a GRIM year at RIM
Many will agree that RIM dominated the 2011 headlines with negative news after negative news. It seemed that the Canadian technology company could not catch a break in most news circles. BBX is out, BlackBerry 10 it is
When your down and out it seems nothing goes your way and today a federal court in Albuquerque granted BASIS International LTD a temporary restraining order that prevents RIM from using the BBX name. I know what your thinking, how did RIM find itself in this position to begin with? They do have lawyers, right!
I really don’t know, so let’s assume it was just an honest mistake and shit happens, but perhaps more importantly, it would appear that RIM has decided to fight another fight. Here’s RIM’s response following the court order, “BlackBerry 10 is now the official name of the next generation platform that will power future BlackBerry smartphones!”
So there we go, from an attempt at being creative to the same old safety net. I guess we can assume RIM’s next generation smartphones will be called the BlackBerry 10,000 series. Let’s test that, the BlackBerry 10900 or the BlackBerry 10099. If that’s the naming convention, it really doesn’t inspire any excitement or energy, kinda feels like the same old shit. Let’s hope I am wrong but more importantly, let’s hope that RIM releases some phones that people want first and foremost.
Anyone else care to help RIM out with a new naming convention?
