Can Bell dominate the Cell phone market in Canada?

Currently Rogers dominates the wireless space largely due to a GSM/HSPA based technology advantage, one of the largest distribution networks along with an advertising power horse made available with their integration with cable and TV assets. Bell has consistently lagged Rogers and TELUS in industry net additions, in the last 9 quarters Bell came in third 8 times. Bell lags the industry in churn, ARPU and with a lower mix of postpaid net adds over the last 9 quarters.

8 Key Palm Pre Features

A far cry from Palm’s glory days in the PDA space the Palm Pre enters the smart phone market with much anticipation and is expected to return some respectability to a company that has struggled for several years.

However, let’s not dwell on the past and focus on what the Palm Pre brings to market:

Palm Pre

1.    It’s beautiful and it comes with a full slide out Qwerty Keyboard with 3.1” touch screen and 320×480 resolution.

2.    The Palm Pre works as a phone when slid open or closed so the ergonomic design is even more appreciated.

3.    Connected Calendars & Contacts allow you to bring multiple calendars into one logical view of your appointments, so contacts with information scattered across multiple sources (Gmail, Facebook, etc.) are all grouped together.

4.    Universal Search, as the name implies, searches all of your contacts, applications and Google or Wikipedia for that matter to narrow down results as you type and intelligently present the results to fit your search.
