We all want to make good decisions when we buy something. This is doubly true when we want to purchase a big-ticket item. Increasingly a big-ticket item will not be a single-use device, such as a TV or a VCR. Instead, it will be a sophisticated piece of digital equipment. Travel And Cellphone Technology

A little while ago I was at a pub night with some friends and the subject of e-book readers came up. Why the Phone You Choose Can Affect Your Bottom Line

In the light of the recent RIM layoffs I got to thinking about how businesses go about selecting their handsets. A lot of business owners are invested in Blackberry devices. What would happen if RIM were to go away? In the early days of smartphones, it was easy, you bought a Blackberry because that was all there was. This isn’t the case any more. Between Android and Blackberry, iOS, Symbian and Window, there is a raft of platforms out there for business owners to choose from.
Choosing the right smartphones for your business is important and not just because of the fact that your workforce will be using them every day. The handset choices you make could have an impact on your bottom line, and considering the fact that, in Canada, business plans are structured around 3 year contracts, making a wrong choice early on could have substantial impacts on your finances for years to come.

There are some very strong reasons for switching to smartphones but they aren’t for everybody. I hope, by sharing my own experiences and reasoning for going to a smartphone that I can help you ascertain whether a smartphone is the right choice for you.

Netbooks. The future or the past?

netbookMany recent articles have cited the increase in Netbook sales as one of the most interesting stories of 2009. The surge in sales and the quick popularity has changed the computing landscape.  This is exactly the reason why many US cellular companies have decided to get on side and bundle their offerings. “Thank you for calling, would you like a Netbook with that”? But how about the Canadian marketplace? Will we follow suit. Read the rest of this entry »
